Abstract

In this study, we examined how the Korea cultural heritage trail program influenced the general state of mind of first- and third-generation participants. More specifically, we examined the psychological changes(i.e., psychological healing) after their participation in this program. We constructed a one-group pretest-posttest study utilizing follow-up surveys, which relied on the psychological healing balance hypothesis as a theoretical framework. Participants were first- and third-generation participants of the heritage trail (150 from each generation, for a total of 300). Paired samples t-tests revealed significant positive changes in specific sub-factors of daily stress, self-esteem, sense of self-expression, intimacy, sense of the interaction with nature, and life satisfaction. There were some non-significant changes in sub-generational factors. This study might provide a meaningful understanding of the psychological healing of the cultural heritage trail for first- and third-generation participants.
